PSU's Head Coach Glanville Steps Down
Jerry Glanville has resigned his position as Head Football Coach at Portland State University ending a three-year stint on the Park Blocks. Glanville, who was the 12th head coach in the school’s history, completed his tenure with a 9-24 record.
The Viking football program completed its season last Saturday with a 2-9 record overall, 1-7 in the Big Sky Conference.
ASU Selection Announcement Viewing Party Set for Sunday
Appalachian State University will host an NCAA Division I Football Championship selection announcement viewing party on Sunday at Legends, located on Hardin Street on the ASU campus. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. with the bracket for the 16-team field to be announced on ESPNEWS between 3-3:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Players Begin Accepting Invitations to 85th East-West Shrine Game
Andre Roberts of The Citadel and Fordham’s John Skelton have already signed on.
Thirty-seven top NCAA athletes from across the country have accepted invitations to play in the 85th East-West Shrine Game. Rosters for the East and West Teams will continue to grow leading up to the Game, which will be held at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Jan. 23.
Noreen Morris Named Commissioner of Northeast Conference
The Northeast Conference has named Noreen Morris as Commissioner, it was announced today by Vice Admiral Paul Gaffney, President of Monmouth University and President of the NEC Council of Presidents. Morris will assume her duties with the conference on January 4, 2010.
“The Conference is thrilled to land Noreen Morris,” said Gaffney. “She was selected from a very talented field and brings to us a wealth of conference, campus and NCAA governance experience. The Northeast Conference intends to make its mark, and Noreen will lead the way.”

FCS Dominates CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams for Football, Again

The 2009 CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams for football have been selected. There is a University Division (Division I programs) and a College Division (DII, DIII programs) for each sport and members are selected for First Team, Second Team and Third Team honors.
Three Academic All-District teams are chosen in each district, with those student-athletes on the All-District first teams placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.
Nominations and voting for the Academic All-America® programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Richmond Becomes Third-Ever FCS Team To Earn Votes In AP Top 25
The Spiders join Appalachian State and Northern Iowa as the only FCS teams to be recognized in the Poll.
Off to its best start in school history at 8-0, No. 1-ranked Richmond became the first FCS team in two years to earn votes in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. The Spiders were listed on one ballot and are unofficially 37th to become just third-ever FCS team recognized in the Poll.

SFA's Harper Receiving Coach of the Year Consideration
Fans can help select Coach Harper as the 2009 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year
Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack head football coach J.C. Harper has his squad out to its best start since the 2004 season, and riding a five-game win streak. The Lumberjacks’ start to the 2009 season has Harper among those being considered for the 2009 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award.

Revised Buchanan Award Watch List Announced
Tim Knicky of Stephen F. Austin, Jeremy Maddox of Alabama A&M, Arthur Moats of James Madison and J.C. Sherritt of Eastern Washington have been added to the Sports Network’s Buck Buchanan Award watch list.
The Buchanan Award, which is in its 15th year, is given to the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Revised Payton Award Watch List Announced
Delaware quarterback Pat Devlin and Southern Illinois all-purpose runner Deji Karim are the latest editions to the revised Walter Payton Award watch list. Devlin and Karim join 18 other players on the list.
The Payton Award, now in its 23rd year, is given by The Sports Network to the most outstanding player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
Spokane Bids On Title Game
The Spokane Regional Sports Commission and Eastern Washington University have submitted a bid to host the NCAA Division I Football Championship Game at Joe Albi Staium for three years, beginning in 2011.
UCA, stadium after title game
If officials at the University of Central Arkansas and War Memorial Stadium have their way, the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title game will be in Little Rock in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Study: NCAA penalties harsher for non-BCS, historically black schools
Schools in leagues that have automatic berths in the Bowl Championship Series receive less-stringent probation penalties from the NCAA than other Division I institutions for violating the governing body’s rules, says a study released Tuesday by a former NCAA legal consultant.
