Griz open practice Monday
MISSOULA - The University of Montana football team’s first practice of fall camp is scheduled for Monday.
The helmets-only practice starts at 2 p.m. Players will report on Sunday, when they’ll get their equipment and attend team and position meetings.
Montana returns 10 starters - seven on offense and three on defense - but needs to replace 14 starters and several record-setting players who graduated.

Coach Bobby Hauck said the team made a lot of progress during spring ball, but is not where it has been the past couple of years at this time. He said it’s “really going to be a race against the clock” to try to be ready for Montana’s first game, Sept. 6 against Cal Poly.
The Grizzlies are the defending Big Sky Conference champions and have won 10 league titles in a row.
