The Southern Inter­collegiate Athletic Con­ference has permanent­ly suspended an official who ruled that a late touchdown pass was out of bounds in last week’s Turkey Day Clas­sic game against Alaba­ma State, costing the Golden Tigers a win.

In statement Friday the league said the offi­ciating crew for the 2008 Turkey Day Classic did “a distressingly poor job officiating the con­test,” and permanently suspended Philip Hard­en as an official for any future SIAC football contests.

Dr. Moses Norman, the league’s supervisor of officials said “the play should have result­ed in a touchdown for Tuskegee. Certainly, this was a game-changing ruling by the back judge.”

The SIAC interim commissioner said the league expects com­plete honesty from its officials at all times and will not accept any less.
