Northeast Conference Announces Recent NCAA Appointments
Four athletic administrators from the Northeast Conference (NEC) have been appointed to various positions within the NCAA governance structure. Central Connecticut State Director of Athletics C.J. Jones was reappointed to the Division I Football Championship Committee.

NEC Assistant Commissioner Joyce Bell was chosen to serve on the Progress Toward Degree Waiver Committee, Robert Morris Provost David Jamison was named to the Committee on Academic Performance and Quinnipiac Senior Woman Administrator Tracey Flynn was selected to serve on the Division I Administration Cabinet.
Jones begins his second four-year term as a member of the Division I Football Championship Committee. Committee members serve as chairs of their respective regional committees, select and seed the FCS playoff field and serve as NCAA representatives at playoff games.
Bell begins a four-year term on the Progress Toward Degree Waiver Committee. The committee is charged with reviewing cases and granting exceptions to the progress-toward-degree continuing eligibility requirements
Jamison will serve a four-year appointment to the Committee on Academic Performance. The committee oversees the process governing data collection, analysis and calculation used to determine the Academic Progress Rate (APR), Graduation Success Rate (GPR) and Academic Performance Census (APC). The committee also oversees the public recognition program for institutions that demonstrate academic excellence and hears appeals of institutions or teams subject to penalties.
Flynn will serve through July, 2011 on the Division I Administration Cabinet. The cabinet is responsible for addressing Division I administrative functions, including governance issues, the Division I membership process and all committee selections.
In addition to these latest appointments, the NEC is represented within the NCAA governance structure by Mount St. Mary’s President Thomas Powell (Board of Directors, NCAA Executive Committee), NEC Commissioner Brenda Weare (Leadership Council), Wagner Senior Woman Administrator Peg Hefferan (Legislative Council), Monmouth Senior Associate Director of Athletics Jeff Stapleton (Championship/Sports Management Cabinet, Playing Rules Oversight Panel), Fairleigh Dickinson Senior Woman Administrator Ann Gulino (Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee), Fairleigh Dickinson student-athlete Shanay Freeman (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) and Monmouth Associate AD-Sports Medicine Doug Padron (Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports). The Conference is also represented on NCAA Sport Committees by Monmouth Director of Athletics Marilyn McNeil (Women’s Basketball), Saint Francis (PA) Director of Athletics Bob Krimmel (Men’s Volleyball), Fairleigh Dickinson men’s soccer coach Seth Roland (Men’s Soccer), Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse coach Danie Caro (Women’s Lacrosse Rules), Robert Morris men’s ice hockey coach Derek Schooley (Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey Rules), Robert Morris women’s ice hockey coach Nate Handrahan (Women’s Ice Hockey) and Wagner Senior Associate Director of Athletics Andrew Schwartz (Women’s Water Polo).
