UD President Announces Search Committee and Appointment of Firm to Assist in Nationwide Search for New Director of Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreation Services
...
University of Delaware President Patrick Harker announced today the appointment of a search committee to replace athletic director Edgar Johnson, who is retiring at the end of the current academic year but will remain at UD as a faculty member in Sports Management. The search committee will be assisted by Parker Executive Search – one of the nation’s most respected higher education and collegiate athletic search firms – in the hiring of a director of intercollegiate athletics and recreation services.
The University selected Parker Executive Search in a competitive process. UD President Patrick Harker said, “Parker Executive Search has an outstanding national reputation, and has direct experience with similar types of institutions of higher education. We look forward to working closely with the firm on a thorough search that will lead to the selection of an outstanding director of intercollegiate athletics and recreation services committed to ensuring the successes, on and off the field, of UD’s varsity sports programs. The selected candidate will also be responsible for promoting student-athlete welfare and increasing participation opportunities for all students in club sports, intramurals, fitness and recreation.”
Parker Executive Search will work directly with the University’s search committee, chaired by David Brond, vice president for communications & marketing. The search committee also includes: Bonnie Kenny, UD volleyball head coach, Joseph McGrail, a 1987 UD graduate and four-year letter winner in Football, Matt Robinson, assistant professor of sports management, and Monica Taylor, vice president of development & alumni relations.
Parker Executive Search was founded in 1984 and has conducted more than 1,000 corporate, higher education and collegiate athletics searches, including the placement of the directors of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Notre Dame, The Ohio State University, Arizona State University, the University of Iowa, Rutgers University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Brown University and Ball State University. The firm has also assisted in the searches for the Commissioner of the Big XII Conference and the President and other senior executives at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Parker Executive Search is also an industry leader in higher education searches, including administrators at the University of Illinois, LSU, the University of Washington, the University of Georgia, and many others.
