Big South Announces 2009 TV Package
The Big South Conference today announced its football TV package for the 2009 campaign, and the League will appear on television during nine of the 12 weeks this season. The TV slate features two games on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN), as well as one broadcast on SportSouth. In addition, Big South members will appear on the BIG EAST Network and CBS College Sports this season, while Liberty University’s Flames Television Network will broadcast five home games involving the Flames. Additional telecasts may be added to the overall schedule at a later date.
Three games kick off the TV coverage on the opening weekend of Sept. 5. Liberty’s contest at West Virginia will be televised on the BIG EAST Network package at 12:00pm. Local clearance of this game will be announced at a later date. Later that afternoon, WMYA-TV 40 in Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville will televise Presbyterian at Furman at 5:00pm, while Charleston Southern’s contest at defending FBS National Champion Florida will be carried live on FSN at 7:00pm, including the FSN Carolinas network available in the Lowcountry.
SportSouth will air the Oct. 17 Charleston Southern at Gardner-Webb game live at 11:30am from Boiling Springs, N.C. MASN will televise two Big South contests, beginning with the Oct. 24 Coastal Carolina at Stony Brook game live at 3:30pm from LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. The MASN schedule also features VMI at two-time defending Big South champion Liberty on Nov. 7 at 7:00pm. The three game times were changed to accommodate the broadcasts. The Buccaners-Bulldogs contest was changed from a 6:00pm start, while the Chanticleers-Seawolves game was switched from a 6:00pm kickoff. VMI-Liberty was changed from a 3:30pm kick.
In addition to the television broadcasts, the Big South will again video stream all home football games on its renamed premium content web site, Big South Network.
