Texas State Starting DB, Punt Returner Out for Year
The San Marcos Daily Record is reporting that Texas State defensive back Drenard Williams will miss the season after a scheduled season-ending shoulder surgery on Aug. 10.
A starting cornerback for the Bobcats a year ago, Williams had 39 tackles (24 solo) for the squad that won the Southland Conference automatic bid. The transfer from Iowa State also returned three punts for TXST.
Derek Lopez and Darryl Morris are expected to compete for Williams’ position this fall.
