MVSU Camp 2009: Day Six
The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devil football team continued working in full pads in preparation for the 2009 football season. Preseason Camp 2009 moved on with the assistant coaches working individual sessions with the players.

“We are now fully involved with putting in our schemes on offense and defense,” said MVSU head coach Willie Totten. “We played a lot of guys last season and now those young men have a year under their belt. We now need to get out incoming players up to speed and began to find out who will be in our player rotation.”
The Delta Devils are looking to improve on last season’s final rankings within the conference: 6th in scoring offense and ninth in scoring defense. One area of focus is the defense – which ranked last in 2008. This was a concern entering spring camp and one that has hopefully been addressed.
“We were able to get a number of newcomers on the defensive side of the ball. Hopefully, their defensive intensity combined with the returning players and their knowledge of what we are trying to do will make us a better defensive ball club,” said Totten.
The MVSU Delta Devils football team opens the 2009 campaign with a road trip to Arkansas State on September 5. The team’s first home game comes on September 19 against conference rival Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
