New Scoreboard in Place at Guidry Stadium
THIBODAUX - A brand new video scoreboard, replacing an older model torn down at the end of July, now graces the north end zone of Manning Field at John L. Guidry Stadium as work crews finished raising the new seven-section board into place on Wednesday at the home of Nicholls State University football.
The new scoreboard features a video screen with instant replay capabilities and will see its first action of the NCAA season when the Colonels host Duquesne on Sept. 12.
While now in place, the new board will have to be connected to power sources and press box controls before achieving full operational readiness, however, athletic department officials maintain the board should be operationl in time for high school football jamboree season.
“We hare excited by the new scoreboard it has some capabilities that the other scoreboard did not have,” Athletics Director Rob Bernardi said. “While the installation is ongoing, the scoreboard will be operational by next Thursday when Guidry Stadium will host a high school jamboree featuring both E.D. White and Thibodaux High School.”
