Southern Conference Announces November Athletes of the Month
Hudgins and LeGree honored.
The Southern Conference announced its November athletes of the month today, highlighting excellence among student-athletes during the month. The athletes of the month are nominated by each member institution and selected by the conference office.
Terrell Hudgins, Elon, Sr., WR
Hudgins totaled 591 yards and three touchdowns on 41 receptions last month, including at least eight catches and 127 yards in each game. The senior led Elon to its first FCS playoff berth in school history while being named a finalist for the 2009 Walter Payton Award. Hudgins set 10 new NCAA records over the course of the season, including establishing a new FCS record with 123 receptions in a season during the playoff game at Richmond.
Other Nominees: Devon Moore (Appalachian State), Jordan Sorrells (Furman), Chris Evans (Samford), Andre Roberts (The Citadel), Blue Cooper (Chattanooga), Zach Jaynes (Western Carolina) and Mitch Allen (Wofford).
Mark LeGree, Appalachian State, Jr., DB
LeGree intercepted four passes in four games during the month of November, bringing his season interception total to a SoCon-leading seven. The junior defensive back intercepted two passes in a de facto SoCon championship game at Elon on Nov. 14, helping the Mountaineers clinch their fifth consecutive league championship. LeGree also squelched an S.C. State scoring opportunity with an interception in last week’s 20-13 first-round playoff win.
Other Nominees: Adrian McLeod (Western Carolina), Bryce Smith (Samford), Terrence Reese (The Citadel), Brandon Ward (Elon), Nathan Wade (Furman), Steven Smigelsky (Chattanooga) and Keaton Thompson (Wofford).
