Winner of William and Mary @ Villanova Will be the Home Team in Chatty
College Sporting News has learned that the “home team” for the NCAA Division I Football Championship game in Chattanooga next Friday, 12/18/09, will be the participant from the lower half of the playoff bracket.
As the home team they will wear their dark jerseys.
The two teams matched in the semifinals in that part of the bracket this Friday on ESPN2, 8 p.m. EST, are the Villanova Wildcats and the William and Mary Tribe. According to computer rankings they are the No. 1 (VU) and No. 2 (WM) ranked teams in the country.
That game is a rematch of a regular season conference tilt in the Colonial Athletic Association won on 10/3/09, 28-17 by Villanova. The game will once again be played at Villanova where the Wildcats are 18-1 in their last 19 games. VU has won their last five home playoff games.
Overall, William and Mary leads the series with Villanova 14-12-1 with their last win coming in 2004.
