South Alabama RB Anthony Mostella dies in St. Clair County motorcycle crash
A University of South Alabama football player died in a motorcycle accident this afternoon in St. Clair County, according to the Alabama State Troopers.
Anthony Mostella, 22, died after his motorcycle crashed on St. Clair 26 just before 3:40 p.m. about three miles south of Ashville, troopers said.

As a junior, the Oneonta native was a backup running back during South Alabama’s inaugural football season last season.
He appeared in all seven games, rushing for 180 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries. He also caught three passes for 32 yards and another score.
Mostella came to the Jaguars from Birmingham-Southern College, where is was a second-team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference pick at running back in 2007 after gaining 222 yards and scoring two touchdowns on 57 carries and catching 30 passes for 297 yards and a touchdown.
In high school at Oneonta High School, Mostella set school record for touchdowns, with 38, and rushed for 2,055 yards. In four seasons, his teams combined for a 52-3 record.
Mostella also drew high marks in the classroom. He was named to the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll at the end of the spring semester in 2009, according to the University of South Alabama athletic department website.
