UCA Signs Head Coach Clint Conque to Five-Year Extension
CONWAY, Ark _ Three University of Central Arkansas head coaches have signed new contracts, according to Dr. Brad Teague, director of athletics.
Football coach Clint Conque and women’s basketball coach Matt Daniel have signed new five-year contracts, while men’s basketball coach Corliss Williamson signed a three-year contract.
“These three high-profile coaches have all signed multi-year contracts which will insure they continue to coach here and have success here at UCA for some time,’ said Teague. “We are very pleased that they will be here to continue to mentor our young men and women and provide stability for their programs.
“We look forward to their continued leadership and success in the future.’
Conque is entering his 11th season at UCA and is second in career victories with 73. He led the Bears to a first-place finish in the Southland Conference in 2008. In just his second season, Daniel led the Sugar Bears to a 21-8 record last season, a Southland Conference record turnaround of 15 victories from the previous year.
Williamson, a former NCAA and NBA champion, took over the UCA men’s basketball program in March.
“Coach Conque and Coach Daniel signed five-year deals since they are successful returning coaches,’ said Teague, “while Coach Williamson signed a three-year deal since he’s just beginning here at UCA. But even though he’s new, Coach Williamson has already made a major impact on the campus and on our men’s basketball program.’
