Analysis: Alabama A&M is coming off the fourth appearance in the SWAC Championship game in the eight-year tenure of head coach. The Bulldogs will welcome five opponents - including four SWAC foes - the `Hill this season.
The feature home matchups appear to be against perennial powers Southern and Grambling State, and a re-match with defending SWAC champion Prairie View. However, if the AAMU is to get back to another SWAC Championship game, they’ll have to be strong on the road as three of their four divisional contests are away from the friendly confines of Louis Crews Stadium.
There is also an extended road trip smack in the middle of the Bulldogs schedule. After hosting Grambling State on October 2nd, they won’t play another game at home until November 6th. That journey takes A&M to Jackson State, UAPB and to Birmingham to face Alabama State in the Magic City Classic.
The Bulldogs have two other “classics” on their schedule: the John Merritt Classic versus Tennessee State in Nashville and the inaugural Louis Crews Classic, named for the winningest football coach in Bulldog history.
