Furman quarterback Chris Foricer will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2010 season after sustaining a glenoid neck fracture in the second quarter of Furman’s eventual 38-19 loss to FBS 13th-ranked South Carolina on Saturday, head athletic trainer Craig Clark confirmed Monday afternoon.

Forcier, a 6-foot-3, 208-pound junior from San Diego, Calif., who joined the Furman program in the summer of 2009 following two seasons at UCLA, could undergo surgery, but a decision has not been finalized.. He currently has one season of eligibility remaining.
Foricer started at quarterback in the Paladins’ 45-15 season opening win over Colgate, rushing seven times for 130 yards and a touchdown, which came on an 85-yard run – the sixth longest run in Furman history. Coming off the bench against South Carolina, he completed 1-of-2 passes for 13 yards and rushed twice for 10 yards prior to the injury.
Sophomore Dakota Derrick will move into the backup signal calling role for the Paladins behind starter Cody Worley, according to head coach Bobby Lamb. Derrick saw his first collegiate action late in the Colgate contest.
