UNI Adds Blue Adams to Coaching Staff
The University of Northern Iowa football team has added Blue Adams to its coaching staff, head coach Mark Farley announced Wednesday. Adams comes to UNI after a seven-year career as a professional football player and one season as a defensive graduate assistant coach at Purdue.

Adams played four years as a defensive back at Cincinnati, recording a school-record 12 interceptions in his career. He was a second-team All-Conference USA selection as a senior, and he was picked in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. In 2003, he played for the Lions and the Jacksonville Jaguars, and in 2004 he played for NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire. From 2005-08 he returned to the NFL and played with Tampa Bay, Cincinnati and Atlanta. He tallied 51 tackles in 50 career NFL games. In 2009 Adams rounded out his playing career as a defensive back for the Montreal Alouettes.
In 2010 he served as a graduate assistant at Purdue, working with the Boilermaker secondary. Adams will work with the defensive backs at UNI.
