Sioux-Bison football rivalry still on hold
Football fans in the Red River Valley are playing their own waiting game, the drought of a Sioux-Bison football rivalry is on the brink of reaching a decade.
The transition to division one, has forced the rival programs in opposite directions. Beginning in 2012, the Sioux will play in the Big Sky conference, while the Bison continue their run in the valley making it difficult for the game to be played anytime soon.
...
Gene Taylor - NDSU Athletic Director: “Probably not gonna happen soon. We are looking beyond 2013. Scheduling anything with them down the road, those are the dates we are looking beyond 2013.
Brian Faison – UND Athletic Director: “You know there’s less dates than before. We’ve gotta come up with the best combination that works for NDSU and for us. We’ll get it done. We really will get a it done, I know we’ve been saying that all three years of my tenure here, but I feel really good at where we’re at.”
Taylor tells me the first game will be in Fargo when the series resumes. The earliest possible opening for both teams is now 2014.
