The six-foot-two pivot was a four-year starter at Richmond, where he won a NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title in 2008. He set single-season school records in passing yards (2,808), attempts (359), completions (230) and passing percentage (64.1), and tied a school record with 17 touchdowns that seasons.
Ward signed with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons in May 2010, but was waived a month later.
Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed said a veteran quarterback is expected to be added to the training camp mix at QB on Wednesday morning.
