The football team did not conduct a scheduled 9 a.m. scrimmage. Excessive rain from Tropical Storm Fay turned the practice field near Tiger Arena into a slippery, muddy mess that presented a safety hazard to players.

SSU President Earl Yarbrough did not address alumni and fans at the “Tigers’ Scholarship Extravaganza” at Tiger Arena. Yarbrough was in Virginia attending the Saturday funeral of his father-in-law, who died Tuesday night, according to Claud Flythe, vice president for administration.
